Ongoing Escalation Around Tishrin Dam and Abduction of Civilians in Raqqa Countryside

The Syrian Democratic Forces and the Women’s Protection Units continue to confront attacks by mercenaries of the Transitional Government in the vicinity of Tishrin Dam, as the ongoing clashes have resulted in the killing of two mercenaries, amid continued confrontations in the area.

Field sources reported that fighters of the Syrian Democratic Forces and fighters of the Women’s Protection Units continue to respond to the attacks launched by mercenary groups on the surroundings of the dam. At the same time, the mercenaries attempted to retrieve their dead and wounded, but were subjected to direct targeting, while clashes are still ongoing up to now.

According to the information received, mercenaries of the Transitional Government, with the support of the Turkish occupying state, launched violent attacks since the early morning hours on Tishrin Dam and its surrounding areas, using tanks, artillery, and various types of heavy weapons. They targeted the dam’s residential facilities, Sritel Hill, and the dam itself, in an attempt to storm it from several axes.

The sources confirmed that the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Women’s Protection Units managed to repel four infiltration attempts and inflicted heavy losses on the attackers, as four tanks, two armored military vehicles, and a bulldozer were destroyed. In addition, a number of mercenaries were killed and others were wounded.

In a related context, mercenary groups affiliated with the Transitional Government abducted a convoy of vehicles carrying civilians and wounded individuals while they were heading toward the city of Hasakah, near the village of Sabah al-Khair in the Raqqa Canton.

One of the abducted civilians reported, in an audio recording sent from inside the convoy, that they were ambushed by the mercenaries, who initially opened fire on them before taking them to an unknown destination, with no further information yet available about their fate.

This escalation comes amid the continuation of attacks on areas of northern and eastern Syria, raising fears of a worsening security and humanitarian situation in the region.
