Paris Considers Listing the Muslim Brotherhood as a European Terrorist Organization

The Committee on Foreign Affairs of the French National Assembly is examining today, Wednesday, a European draft resolution aimed at including the Muslim Brotherhood among the European list of organizations classified as “terrorist.”
The website of the French National Assembly stated that the committee will hold a session dedicated to “examining a European draft resolution aimed at adding the Muslim Brotherhood organization to the European list of terrorist organizations.”
This comes in parallel with the announcement by the United States yesterday, Tuesday, of the designation of three branches of the Muslim Brotherhood in the Middle East as terrorist organizations, and the imposition of sanctions on them and on a number of their members.
According to French media reports, the text of the draft resolution is scheduled to be placed on the agenda of the parliamentary session allocated to the Republicans group, set for January 22.
These moves reflect a growing trend within some Western countries to reassess the status of the group and its activities, amid escalating political and security debates at both the national and European levels.
