Armed Gatherings and Road Closures in the City of Aleppo Amid Military Preparations

Local sources reported the gathering of elements affiliated with the Syrian transitional government at several points north of the city of Aleppo, amid field measures that included the closure of main roads.

According to the sources, approximately 60 members of the transitional government, equipped with light and medium weapons, gathered at Tareq bin Ziyad Roundabout, located at the end of Al-Zohour Street in the Al-Suryan neighborhood, where they closed the road linking Al-Ashrafieh neighborhood with Al-Zohour Street using earthen barriers. The Lairamoun road was also closed in the same manner.

In the same context, the sources stated that elements of the Sultan Murad Division stationed in the Al-Sakhna area moved toward the city of Aleppo, with the aim of joining military preparations targeting the Sheikh Maqsoud and Al-Ashrafieh neighborhoods.

The sources added that the commanders of the 62nd and 76th divisions called for holding a meeting with the leaders of groups and battalions to develop a plan for the anticipated attack, while invitations were sent to armed groups loyal to Turkey and stationed in the provinces of Homs and Hama to head to Aleppo and participate in these movements.

These developments come amid security tension witnessed in the city of Aleppo and its surroundings, alongside fears of a military escalation that may affect densely populated residential neighborhoods.
