Jordan Announces Operations to Pursue Smugglers Along the Border with Syria

The Jordanian Armed Forces announced the implementation of military operations along the border with Syria, as part of efforts to confront groups specialized in arms and drug smuggling.

In a statement published on its official website, the Armed Forces said that the army is conducting a precise operational and intelligence assessment of the situation, with the aim of neutralizing these groups and preventing infiltration and smuggling attempts, within the framework of ongoing efforts to preserve the Kingdom’s security and stability.

Jordanian television quoted a military source as saying that clashes with the targeted gangs were still ongoing at the time of writing, confirming that no casualties had been recorded among the Jordanian Armed Forces.

The source added that full details of the operation will be announced upon its completion.
