Internal Security Forces in Aleppo Deny Responsibility for Clashes and Confirm Commitment to the Ceasefire

The Internal Security Forces in the city of Aleppo have denied the accusations directed at them regarding their role in the recent clashes in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods.

In a statement, the forces said that factions affiliated with the transitional government launched an attack yesterday, using heavy and medium weapons on the two neighborhoods, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to several civilians, in addition to the injury of Internal Security Forces personnel.

The statement added that their forces responded only to what they described as “sources of fire,” in self-defense, noting that the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods have been under siege for about four months by factions affiliated with the Ministry of Defense in the transitional government, including factions supported by Turkey.

The Internal Security Forces confirmed the injury of six of their personnel during the attack, emphasizing their categorical rejection of all accusations blaming them for the outbreak of the clashes.

The statement concluded by reaffirming the Internal Security Forces’ commitment to the ceasefire, while indicating their readiness to respond to any threats targeting the security of the region and the safety of its residents.
