Sources: International Coalition targets ISIS sites in the Raqqa–Deir ez-Zor desert

Private sources reported on Saturday that International Coalition forces carried out strikes targeting ISIS sites in the Raqqa–Deir ez-Zor desert, launched from the al-Shaddadi base south of al-Hasakah.

The sources said that missiles were fired from the U.S. base in the al-Hasakah countryside, in conjunction with airstrikes that targeted hideouts and depots belonging to the group.

They added that the strikes came, according to the sources, in response to the attack that targeted the city of Palmyra earlier.

Private sources had previously stated that Coalition forces killed the individual responsible for the Palmyra attack, noting that the target was Abu Hamza al-Athari, whom they described as the direct supervisor of the attack.
