The Syrian Ministry of Interior announces the arrest of suspects in an attack targeting U.S. forces near Palmyra.

On Sunday, the Syrian Ministry of Interior announced the execution of a security operation in the city of Palmyra in central Syria, resulting in the arrest of five individuals suspected of being involved in the attack that targeted U.S. forces on Saturday.

The U.S. Central Command had announced on Saturday the death of two American soldiers and one American civilian, and the injury of three other military personnel, following an ambush carried out by a fighter affiliated with the “ISIS” group in Syria.

The Syrian Ministry of Interior stated in a statement that its units had carried out a targeted security operation in the city of Palmyra, following the attack that targeted the headquarters of the internal security leadership meeting in the Syrian desert area, with the participation of a delegation from the international coalition. The attack resulted in casualties and injuries.

The statement added that the operation was carried out in coordination with the General Intelligence Directorate and the forces of the international coalition, based on intelligence information, and led to the arrest of five suspects who were subsequently subjected to investigation.
