SDF Announces Foiling of ISIS Attack in Eastern Deir ez-Zor Countryside

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced on Saturday the foiling of an attack carried out by a cell belonging to ISIS, targeting one of its patrols in the village of Al-Takheihi in the Al-Busayrah area, eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside.
The media center of the Syrian Democratic Forces stated in a statement that the attack targeted a military vehicle while the patrol was carrying out its routine duties in maintaining security, noting that clashes broke out between the patrol’s members and the attacking group.
The statement added that the clashes resulted in the death of one member of the attacking cell and the injury of another, while the rest of the attackers fled the scene. It also clarified that the forces seized an RPG launcher with a projectile, in addition to a motorcycle used by the attackers during the assault.
According to the statement, six attackers participated in the assault, riding motorcycles and carrying assault rifles and anti-tank rocket launchers.
The statement also noted that the Syrian Democratic Forces launched a large-scale combing operation in the area following the attack to search for the remaining members of the cell, stressing that security operations would continue to enhance stability and prevent any threats targeting civilians or local security.
