Hezbollah Announces the Killing of One of Its Military Commanders in an Israeli Airstrike on Beirut

Lebanese Hezbollah announced, in a statement issued late Sunday, the killing of one of its most prominent military commanders, Haitham Ali al-Tabtabai, known by the nickname “Sayyed Abu Ali,” following an Israeli airstrike that targeted the Haret Hreik area in Beirut’s southern suburb.
The group said that al-Tabtabai was among the figures who played a key role in what it described as “the resistance’s combat structure,” noting his long-standing career within its ranks. Hezbollah did not provide additional details regarding the circumstances of his death.
The announcement came hours after an airstrike that Israeli media said targeted a senior military figure in Hezbollah, suggesting that al-Tabtabai was the intended target and describing him as the group’s “Chief of Staff.”
Israeli authorities have not yet issued an official comment on the operation, while the security situation remains tense amid the ongoing escalation between the two sides.
