Israel Announces Targeting of a Hezbollah Member in Southern Lebanon

The Israeli army announced on Saturday that it had targeted a Hezbollah member in the vicinity of the town of Frun in southern Lebanon. Army spokesperson Avichay Adraee said the operation was carried out on Friday, noting that the individual targeted “had been involved in activities Israel considers a threat to its security.”

The Israeli military explained that the fighter in question “was responsible for planning operations against Israel,” describing those activities as “a violation of existing understandings” between the two sides. It also affirmed that it would continue “taking the necessary measures to prevent any security threat.”

Hezbollah did not issue an immediate comment regarding the Israeli announcement.

The Lebanese–Israeli border has witnessed ongoing tension since the outbreak of mutual clashes between the two parties following the escalation of the regional crisis, with continued exchanges of shelling and limited operations across the border line.
