Riyadh and Washington Sign a Package of Strategic Agreements Covering Defense, Energy, and Artificial Intelligence

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and U.S. President Donald Trump signed on Tuesday at the White House a set of bilateral agreements and memoranda covering the fields of defense, artificial intelligence, nuclear energy, and supply chains, during the Saudi–American summit in Washington, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

The package of agreements included the Strategic Partnership for Artificial Intelligence, the joint statement to complete negotiations on cooperation in civilian nuclear energy, as well as the strategic framework for partnership in securing supply chains for uranium, minerals, permanent magnets, and critical minerals.

The two sides also signed an agreement to facilitate procedures for accelerating Saudi investments, financial and economic partnership arrangements, an agreement on cooperation in the financial markets authorities’ sector, a memorandum of understanding in the field of education and training, and letters related to vehicle safety standards.

The summit also witnessed the signing of the Strategic Defense Agreement, which aims to enhance long-term military cooperation, affirming the ability of both countries to work jointly to confront regional and international challenges, develop defense capabilities, and raise levels of readiness.

This agreement is an extension of the strategic relations that have spanned more than ninety years between Riyadh and Washington, and constitutes—according to the statement—a pivotal step in strengthening security, stability, and prosperity in the region.

During the summit, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and President Trump reviewed the course of bilateral relations, joint efforts to develop the strategic partnership in various fields, and discussed regional and international developments and ways to enhance security and stability.

The White House held an official reception ceremony for the Saudi Crown Prince, which included a military display and a tour inside the White House corridors, before the visit concluded with aerial shows performed by fighter jets over the U.S. capital in his honor.
