Syria Denies Intention to Hand Over Uighur Fighters to China

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Syrian Transitional Government denied on Monday the media reports suggesting an intention to hand over Uighur fighters to China, following a report by Agence France-Presse (AFP) that indicated such a plan.

An official source in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told SANA, the Syrian Arab News Agency, that the report by AFP regarding the transitional government’s intention to hand over fighters to China is false.

This Syrian denial comes in conjunction with a meeting between the Syrian Transitional Government’s Foreign Minister, Asad Al-Shibani, and his Chinese counterpart in Beijing this morning. During the meeting, China expressed its readiness to contribute to Syria’s stability and strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
