Kurdish Journalists Network Calls for Protection of Journalists in Northern Syria

In recent days, posts have circulated on social media platforms concerning a number of Kurdish journalists in Syria, following the appearance of one of them on a program broadcast by the “Syrian News Channel.” The posts later expanded to include other journalists—one working for an Arab TV channel and another for an international news agency—linking their names to demonstrations or political activities, according to observers.
The Syrian Kurdish Journalists Network stated that these posts target journalists and civil activists, calling on the relevant authorities to verify the content of these posts and hold those responsible accountable, in order to ensure the safety of journalists and protect the freedom of media work.
The network explained that it is following up on the case and urged the Syrian Ministry of Information to play its role in investigating and pursuing the entities behind these posts, emphasizing the importance of protecting journalists in the areas of northeastern Syria.
The network also called on local and international human rights organizations to intervene to ensure the safety of journalists and to reduce the risks they may face while carrying out their media work.
