Istanbul Hosts International Meeting on Ceasefire and Aid Delivery to Gaza

The city of Istanbul, Türkiye, is scheduled to host an international meeting on Monday focusing on the situation in the Gaza Strip, under the auspices of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. The meeting aims to discuss ways to consolidate the ceasefire and manage the next phase of humanitarian operations in the enclave.

According to informed sources, the meeting will bring together the foreign ministers of Türkiye, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Qatar, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan — the same countries that participated in a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in New York on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly on September 23, 2025.

Discussions will focus on consolidating the ceasefire, the humanitarian situation, and the delivery of aid to Gaza, in addition to addressing the second phase, which involves establishing a temporary international force to administer the enclave. The Turkish foreign minister explained that the meeting will discuss “how to move to the second phase, namely the stabilization force,” while noting Ankara’s concern over the continuity of the truce.

The meeting comes after intensive efforts by mediators, particularly Egypt, to form the temporary force aimed at ensuring security in Gaza, emphasizing the need for a United Nations Security Council mandate to guarantee the legitimacy of countries’ participation in military operations within the enclave.

The ceasefire agreement, which came into effect on October 10, stipulated that Hamas would release all Israeli captives and hand over the bodies of the dead, in exchange for the withdrawal of Israeli forces to designated areas and the entry of food and medical aid into Gaza at a rate of 600 trucks per day, as well as the removal of debris. The next phase includes the establishment of the temporary international force, the disarmament of the enclave, and the commencement of reconstruction.
