Israeli Army Announces Strikes on Hezbollah Targets in Southern Lebanon

The Israeli army announced on Thursday that it carried out airstrikes targeting what it described as Hezbollah infrastructure in the town of Al-Mahmoudiyah in southern Lebanon, marking the latest escalation along the border between the two countries.
In a statement, the Israeli military said its aircraft “struck terrorist targets belonging to Hezbollah in Lebanon,” explaining that the strikes included “a rocket launch site and a tunnel in the Al-Mahmoudiyah area,” and described the presence of such facilities as “a violation of existing understandings between Israel and Lebanon.”
The statement added that the Israeli army “will continue operations to eliminate any threat against the State of Israel,” signaling that air raids on sites believed to be used by Hezbollah along the border will continue.
Field reporters said that Israeli warplanes launched a series of raids on the Al-Jarmuq and Al-Mahmoudiyah areas, accompanied by heavy aerial activity over southern Lebanon.
Earlier in the day, a municipal employee in the town of Blida was killed during a two-hour Israeli ground incursion into Lebanese territory, which Israel said was “in response to Hezbollah-related activities” near the border.
