Israeli Tanks Destroy Abandoned Military Barracks in Southern Quneitra Countryside

Local sources in Syria’s southern Quneitra province reported that Israeli tanks destroyed an abandoned military barracks belonging to the former Syrian army near the town of Ain Aisha late Monday night.
Video footage showed extensive destruction to the barracks buildings—some of which were leveled to the ground—with the road leading to the site blocked by earthen barriers, a destroyed vehicle visible nearby, and tank tracks along the Salam Highway connecting Damascus and Quneitra.
A local resident, Rasmia Al-Sarrah, said that “Israeli forces arrived at midnight, supported by a tank and a bulldozer, and began demolishing the structures, continuing until the early morning hours, which caused panic among the residents.”
Another resident, Malik Al-Mohammad, noted that “the barracks had been standing for about five decades,” adding that “Israeli forces removed the surrounding trees during the operation.”
Syrian state television reported that four Israeli tanks and several military vehicles had entered the southern Quneitra countryside, destroying prefabricated rooms within the abandoned barracks and uprooting a number of trees in the area.
This development comes just days after a similar Israeli incursion into the village of Al-Samadaniyah Al-Sharqiyah in the same province. Since the fall of the former Syrian regime in December 2024, Israel has intensified its attacks and incursions into southern Syria—including areas within the demilitarized zone established under the 1974 ceasefire agreement—amid ongoing negotiations between the two sides that have yet to yield tangible progress.
