Israel Threatens Hamas After Receiving Parts of an Israeli Prisoner’s Body

Israeli media reported on Tuesday that the body Israel received from the Gaza Strip through the Red Cross consisted of parts of the remains of an Israeli prisoner whose body had been previously returned.

Channel 12 said that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would hold an emergency security consultation to discuss a possible response against Hamas following the receipt of the body.

On Monday evening, Hamas handed over the body of an Israeli prisoner to the International Committee of the Red Cross, which transferred it to the Israeli army inside the Gaza Strip before it was later moved to the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute for identification tests.

According to Israeli sources, the remains of 13 Israeli prisoners are still being held in the Gaza Strip, while ongoing search operations in Rafah and Khan Younis have not yielded any new results.

Meanwhile, Khalil Al-Hayya, deputy head of Hamas’s political bureau in Gaza, said that the movement would soon begin search operations in new areas, emphasizing its commitment to resolving this humanitarian issue in a way that serves the interests of the Palestinian people and preserves existing understandings with mediators.
