Return of 40 Kurdish Migrants from Libya to the Kurdistan Region

The Iraqi authorities, in cooperation with the Kurdistan Regional Government, have repatriated forty Kurdish migrants who were detained in Libya to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq after spending more than two months in one of the detention centers there.

The spokesperson for the Iraqi Embassy in Libya, Ahmed Al-Sahaf, explained that the migrants had previously traveled towards Turkey with the aim of reaching Europe, and their detention locations were identified in preparation for their return to the region.

Al-Sahaf added that efforts are ongoing to repatriate thirty-five other Kurdish migrants who remain detained in Libya, in response to appeals from their families and in an effort to improve their humanitarian conditions in the detention camps there.
