Syria and Russia Discuss Strengthening Military Cooperation in Damascus

The Syrian Ministry of Defense said on Tuesday that Defense Minister Major General Merhaf Abu Qasra held a meeting in Damascus with Colonel Andrei Badrodinov, the Russian military attaché, to discuss ways to enhance military cooperation between the two countries.
In a statement, the ministry said the two sides discussed “issues of mutual interest” and ways to “strengthen coordination and strategic partnership” in the defense sector.
The meeting comes as part of regular consultations between Syria and Russia, which have maintained close ties since Russia’s military intervention in Syria in 2015 in support of government forces.
