Tensions Escalate in Aleppo: Transitional Government Forces Attack Protesters in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh

The neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh in Aleppo city witnessed a surge in security tensions on Monday evening, following clashes between the Public Security Forces of the Transitional Government and local protesters, resulting in at least 15 civilian injuries.

According to DELIL24 correspondents and local sources, the Public Security Forces used tear gas and live ammunition to disperse protesters who had taken to the streets to protest the ongoing closure of roads and entrances leading to the neighborhoods. In response, residents set fire to a motorcycle belonging to elements of the Transitional Government in Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, expressing their rejection of what they described as “unjustified” attacks.

Sources confirmed that armed groups affiliated with the Transitional Government carried out attacks with light firearms on civilian gathering points in residential areas, leading to a number of injuries among women and children, who were taken to local hospitals for treatment.

The neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh, predominantly inhabited by Kurds, are experiencing a state of high tension amidst a heavy deployment of armed forces and a near-total disruption of movement. No official statements have been issued by the Transitional Government or the Autonomous Administration regarding the events so far.

Local sources told DELIL24 that residents are demanding an immediate halt to the attacks and the opening of safe passages for ambulances to enter the area, amid fears of a new escalation in the coming hours.
