Lebanese President Comprehensive Cooperation Agreements with Syria Under Saudi Auspices

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said that Lebanon is seeking to move beyond the past and open a new page with Syria through comprehensive cooperation agreements that serve the interest of both countries. He clarified that negotiations with Damascus are taking place under Saudi auspices, focusing on organizing the return of refugees and ensuring good neighborliness. The Lebanese presidency announced that Aoun discussed key issues with the Syrian Prime Minister, Ahmed Al-Shara’, including the demarcation of maritime borders, the situation of refugees and Syrian detainees in Lebanon, as well as economic and security issues. An agreement was reached to form specialized committees to follow up on these issues and promote joint stability.
