Intense Security Deployment on the Syrian Coast Amid Growing Fears of Attacks

The Syrian coast has witnessed a noticeable state of security and military alert for more than two days, accompanied by a heavy deployment of checkpoints on main and secondary roads amid fears of potential armed attacks.

According to local sources, formations affiliated with the Syrian Ministry of Defense have intensified their presence on vital roads linking Hama with Latakia and Tartus provinces, conducting thorough inspections of vehicles and pedestrians, alongside reactivating several checkpoints at city entrances and exits.

In Tartus, reports indicated the entry of a security convoy into the city center, while chants by some personnel sparked concern among residents, as the area experiences unprecedented security measures not seen for months.

Local residents express fears over the return of security chaos previously witnessed in the region and the potentially serious repercussions this could have on civilians.

It remains unclear whether these measures are temporary or permanent, while these developments coincide with the visit of the head of the Syrian Interim Government, Ahmad Al-Sharaa, to the United States, raising questions about the connection between recent moves and the overall political and security situation in the country.
