Syria and the United States Reach Preliminary Agreement to Ease Economic Sanctions

Media reports indicated that Syrian authorities and the United States have reached a preliminary agreement to ease some of the economic sanctions imposed on Damascus, in a step expected to support the deteriorating economy and alleviate the living burdens on citizens.

The New York Times reported that negotiations held between the two parties over the past weeks focused on opening new channels of communication and finding joint solutions to several outstanding issues.

According to sources, the anticipated agreement is expected to include lifting certain restrictions on the banking and oil sectors, which could improve the economic situation and help provide basic needs for the population.

This development comes as part of broader diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing regional tensions and paving the way for political solutions that could help end the Syrian conflict, which has lasted for more than a decade.
