Public Security Officer Killed in Hand Grenade Explosion in Latakia

According to local sources, a public security officer was killed while on duty at a checkpoint in one of Latakia Governorate’s areas, after tampering with a hand grenade, which resulted in his immediate death.

The Syrian Observatory sources denied reports circulated on pages and websites loyal to the Damascus government claiming that the officer had been killed in an ambush in the city, describing these claims as entirely baseless. They added that such narratives are being used as media and security cover to justify ongoing security operations.
