High Legal Committee: Accusations Against the Interim Government for Obstructing Access of Fact-Finding Committee to Sweida

The High Legal Committee in Sweida announced that the Syrian Interim Government is obstructing the entry of the independent international fact-finding committee into the governorate, despite an official invitation from senior religious authorities to conduct a field investigation into the violations accompanying the events of July 2025.
In its statement, the committee said that the Interim Government “refuses to grant actual approval for the entry of the international committee under flimsy pretexts, despite its public announcement accepting the visit,” considering this obstruction a threat to the loss of evidence and the failure of any serious investigation.
Committee Demands
Allow the fact-finding committee to access Sweida without interference from the Interim Government.
Grant the international committee full authority to conduct a comprehensive and immediate field investigation, with unconditional access to witnesses and evidence.
Protect civilians and ensure the delivery of humanitarian and medical aid.
Halt military operations that threaten the population.
Reveal the fate of forcibly kidnapped individuals and facilitate the return of displaced persons to their villages.
So far, there has been no official response from the Interim Government regarding the statement issued by the High Legal Committee.
