Security Campaign in Rural Tal Abyad: Arrest of Nearly 20 Civilians Raises Residents’ Concerns

The countryside of Tal Abyad (Gire Sipi) in northern Syria witnessed a large-scale security operation today, carried out by forces affiliated with Turkish intelligence within the areas controlled under Operation “Peace Spring.” The campaign targeted the villages of Sukkayru and Ali Bajli near the M4 highway.

Local sources reported that the forces raided civilian homes and arrested around 20 individuals, who were taken to an undisclosed security location, with no information available about their fate so far. The incident has sparked tension and concern among local residents.

It is worth noting that the region experienced a similar episode on May 31, when fighters from the “Syrian National Army” and “Saqour al-Sunna” stormed homes belonging to members of the Al-Na’im tribe, resulting in several injuries and clashes between some tribal groups, amid residents’ fears of stray bullets and general chaos.

The exact reasons behind the current arrests remain unclear, as residents continue to monitor the security developments in rural Tal Abyad with growing concern over the potential escalation of tensions.
