Israeli Army Announces Interception of Missile Launched from Yemen

The Israeli army announced on Thursday the interception of a missile launched from Yemen, after police reported that a drone launched from the east hit the city of Eilat in the south of the country.
In a statement, the army said, “The Air Force intercepted a missile a short while ago that was launched from Yemen, triggering alarms in several areas across the country.”
Earlier, Israeli police confirmed that their forces “secured the site of the impact” of a drone launched from the east in the city of Eilat, which is located on the Red Sea.
In a separate statement, the army said, “Search and rescue teams are working in the area where a report of an impact was received,” noting that the Air Force intercepted a second drone coming from the east.
Local media broadcast footage showing the fall of a drone near the entrance of a hotel in the coastal city, a tourist destination visited by many Israelis to spend the Jewish New Year holiday, which is just days away.
No party has yet claimed responsibility for launching the missile or the drone.
Following the outbreak of the war in Gaza, the Houthis in Yemen began launching missiles and drones toward Israel, and carrying out attacks on commercial ships they claim are linked to Israel off the coast of Yemen, asserting that these actions are in support of the Palestinians.
In response, Israel has launched deadly strikes on Houthi-controlled areas, which are backed by Iran, targeting ports, power stations, and Sana’a International Airport.
