Kidnapping of Producer and Businessman Mohammad Qabbanji in Qudsaya, Rural Damascus

Dramatic producer and businessman Mohammad Qabbanji was kidnapped yesterday in front of his company headquarters on the Bajaa road near the Sahara Complex in the Qudsaya suburb of Rural Damascus. According to local sources, the kidnapping was carried out by unidentified armed men in two vehicles, who posed as members of the “General Security” service. He was taken to an unknown location, and no official information about his fate has been released so far.
In this context, the Syrian Ministry of Interior denied any involvement in the incident, following accusations from parties allegedly linked to the kidnapping that claimed the perpetrators were affiliated with “General Security.”
It is worth noting that Mohammad Qabbanji previously served as a member of the People’s Assembly during the previous regime and was known for his pro-government stance.
Additionally, on September 8, the Rural Damascus Governorate witnessed another kidnapping incident, in which three young men from the village of Sama al-Bardan were abducted while heading toward Lebanon via the Damascus–Sweida road. The driver of the vehicle they were in was also kidnapped. The identity of the perpetrators and the fate of the abductees remain unknown.
