Armed Groups Block Damascus–Sweida Road near Al-Mutalla Area

The Damascus–Sweida main road is experiencing security tensions for the second consecutive day after armed groups from Bedouin tribes blocked the road at the Al-Mutalla area today, Thursday.
According to local sources, the road remains effectively closed despite the transitional government’s announcement of reopening it, with passage limited to a few relief vehicles.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported yesterday that the tension began after members of the “Adliya checkpoint” prevented tribe members from crossing toward Damascus, prompting them to block the road again, demanding its security and guarantees for their return to their homes after displacement.
In a related context, violations of the ceasefire agreement in Sweida were reported, involving attacks on the town of ”Ara” west of the governorate from positions in the town of Kherbet Samar, with no reports of casualties.
