After Prior Warning… Israeli Army Begins Strikes in Southern Lebanon

Beirut – The Israeli army announced today, Thursday, that it launched a series of airstrikes on Hezbollah military targets in southern Lebanon, about an hour after issuing warnings to residents to evacuate several villages.

Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee said in a statement that the strikes targeted “Hezbollah military infrastructure,” noting that remaining in the specified buildings “endangers the residents.” The army published maps of four buildings in three southern villages and urged residents and those in nearby buildings to maintain a distance of at least 500 meters.

In response, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam called on the international community to intervene to stop what he described as “Israeli aggressions,” emphasizing during a government session that Lebanon demands the countries sponsoring the ceasefire agreement to exert “maximum pressure on Israel to immediately halt the attacks.”

These developments come amid renewed tensions along the Lebanese-Israeli border, despite the ceasefire agreement signed in November 2024, which ended a conflict lasting over a year and included an open war for two months between Israel and Hezbollah.
