Violations and Arrests in Sayyida Zainab, Rural Damascus

Rural Damascus – Local sources reported that members of the “General Security” affiliated with the Syrian Transitional Government opened fire today on a young man from the Shiite community in the Bahdaliyah area near Sayyida Zainab, resulting in serious injuries that required his transfer to the hospital.

During the same security operation, another young man from the town of Bosra al-Sham was arrested and taken to an unknown location, with no explanation yet provided for his detention.

It is worth noting that the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented a similar incident on August 17, when security forces stormed a house in the same area and assaulted women and children inside before opening fire randomly.
