Syria Requests International Bids to Print New Currency Within 3 Months

Damascus – The Governor of the Central Bank of Syria, Abdul Qader Al-Hosari, announced today, Wednesday, that the Syrian government has requested bids from international entities to print a new currency, aiming to complete the process within three months.

Al-Hosari told Reuters that the Central Bank intends to issue six new banknote denominations, noting that printing will be done through two or three suppliers to meet demand and for logistical reasons.

He also mentioned the formation of two committees, strategic and operational, to oversee the currency printing process, affirming that adjusting the number of zeros in the new denominations will not affect the value of the Syrian pound.
