The European “Troika” Calls Iran to Discuss Nuclear File and International Sanctions

The foreign ministers of France, Germany, and the United Kingdom are holding a phone call today, Wednesday, with the Iranian Foreign Minister to discuss the Iranian nuclear file, as the deadline set by European countries to reimpose international sanctions on Tehran approaches, according to a French diplomatic source who spoke to AFP and Reuters.

The source indicated that the call, scheduled for 9:45 GMT, aims to discuss the imminent return of UN sanctions and to reaffirm the specific conditions set for Tehran that might allow for postponing these sanctions.

The source explained that the talks come as part of preparations for the United Nations General Assembly meetings, amid ongoing discussions regarding Iran’s nuclear program.
