Iranian President Urges Islamic Countries to Cut Ties with Israel

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called on Islamic countries to sever their relations with Israel, in remarks made shortly before his departure to Qatar to participate in the emergency Arab-Islamic summit scheduled for Monday. The summit aims to discuss responses to the Israeli attack last week targeting Hamas officials in Doha.

Pezeshkian said in a brief statement before leaving Tehran:

“Islamic countries can cut their relations with this false entity and maintain their unity and cohesion as much as possible.”

The Iranian president emphasized that his country hopes the summit will result in concrete steps against Israel, adding:

“We hope the summit reaches a conclusion regarding actions against Israel.”

Context of the Summit

Pezeshkian’s remarks come amid escalating regional tensions following the Israeli raid on Doha on September 9, which was described as a serious precedent violating Qatar’s sovereignty and sparked widespread condemnation across the Arab and Islamic worlds.

The summit, convened by Qatar, is set to discuss collective responses to the Israeli escalation, including diplomatic and economic measures, as well as formulating a unified stance in international forums.
