Syria Transfers Oversight of Foreign Companies to the Directorate of Companies to Enhance Regulation and Monitoring

The Syrian Ministry of Economy and Industry announced on Tuesday the transfer of the “Foreign Companies’ Branches and Agencies Department” from the Directorate of Foreign Trade within the General Administration of Economy to the “Directorate of Companies” under the General Administration of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection.

The decision aims to regulate the operations of foreign companies in Syria and to unify the authority responsible for overseeing their activities, thereby enhancing administrative efficiency and ensuring more effective monitoring of these companies’ operations. According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), all employees of the department were transferred to the Directorate of Companies, with the preservation of their employment rights.

On July 31, the Ministry of Economy and Industry had reopened the Directorate of Companies after renovating the building, updating its administrative infrastructure, and improving the services provided there.
