A total lunar eclipse adorns the sky of the Arab world tonight.


This evening, Sunday, September 7, 2025, the sky over the Arab world witnesses a rare total lunar eclipse lasting more than three hours, a spectacle eagerly awaited by astronomy enthusiasts and lovers of natural phenomena.

According to astronomical societies, the phenomenon began at 7:27pm KSA, reaching its peak at 8:31 PM when the moon is completely hidden within the Earth’s shadow, appearing in a reddish-orange color known as the “Blood Moon.” The total eclipse lasts for 1 hour and 22 minutes before gradually ending at 10:56 PM.

The eclipse can be observed with the naked eyes in most Arab countries, as well as parts of Europe, Africa, Asia, and eastern Latin America. Experts have confirmed that this phenomenon is rare and will not be witnessed again until March 2026.

As the Astronomical societies in several countries have called for public observation events using telescopes, noting that no special equipment is needed to watch the eclipse. However, they recommend avoiding light pollution to enjoy a clearer view.
