The Syrian Democratic Council (SDC/MSD) Meets with a High-Level German Diplomatic Delegation in Aleppo to Discuss Political Solution and Humanitarian Issues

On Friday, the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC/MSD) held a meeting in the city of Aleppo with a high-ranking German diplomatic delegation dedicated to discussing key issues related to the political solution in Syria as well as humanitarian matters.
Participants in the Meeting
Representing the SDC was administrative member Jehan Mohammed. The German delegation included:
- Tullia Audran, Head of Near and Middle East Affairs at the German Embassy.
- Ala Ashinder, Deputy Head of Mission in Damascus.
- Steven Kamel, Political Affairs Officer at the Mission.
Strengthening the Political Solution and the Autonomous Administration Experience
According to an official SDC statement, the meeting discussed ways to strengthen a comprehensive political solution along with mechanisms to establish sustainable peace in Syria. The SDC also presented an overview of the autonomous administration experience in northern and eastern Syria, viewing it as a local model aimed at achieving stability and consolidating the principles of democratic governance.
Agreements and Challenges
The meeting also addressed the Ten of March agreement signed between the Transitional Government and the Syrian Democratic Forces, as well as the agreements related to Sheikh Maqsood and Ashrafiyah. The key challenges hindering the full implementation of these agreements were reviewed, along with ways to support community reconciliation efforts at the local level.
Elections and the Displacement Issue
Both parties discussed ongoing preparations for the upcoming People’s Council elections, emphasizing the necessity of equal participation of all Syrian components and sects in the political process.
The German delegation, for its part, stressed their country’s interest in the issue of displaced and forcibly uprooted persons, affirming that providing safe and dignified conditions for their voluntary return represents a fundamental step in the reconstruction process and in strengthening stability.
